Wedding Investment (my take)
Your wedding day is a day that I think we can all agree is worth investing. It can be hard to stay on track though and planning can kind of get carried away, I speak from experience. It’s kind of like visiting a foreign country. You get all excited when you land and you spend all your cash on t-shirts and shot glasses before you even leave the first city! This is how your wedding budget can go. You’re so pumped to be engaged before you know it the first vendor you book accounts for 75% of your budget!! This is fine, of course, if you met first with the companies who offer the services that are most important to you, but what if you visit Party Supplies Plus first? For this reason, I feel it is so important to set your priorities before ever stepping into a store or onto a site. Some people want amazing food, others want a slammin’ DJ. Whatever your vision of the day, make sure you spend the most on what is important and make room for whatever else after.
For most, not all, photography is in the top two areas a couple wants to invest their hard earned money. I believe this is wise. The main reason is that your photos, if the right photographer is chosen, will bring you back to the day you and your soul mate made the ever important decision to love only each other forever. Most people don’t save their dinner entree to smell every year (ick), but your photos will be with you and your family forever! Another big reason to spend the most on your photographer is that, in most cases, a more expensive photographer can offer you more experience. Sure, some couples think they just need someone to snap a few photos and quality may not be imperative. But, what if it rains? What if the church is dark? What if you have an unruly groomsman? There are many situations where experience can make all the difference. You don’t want to choose a “good enough” photographer and then you aren’t able to make out the brides identity if she weren’t wearing a wedding dress. A higher photography budget can also get you better quality and more options. They’ll have better equipment, more product options, and better service.
Here is the catch! It may sound contradictory, but I don’t believe budget should be the main reason you chose a photographer. One thing that we often don’t think of until it’s too late, is the photographer’s personality. There are so many talented photographers in every price range, there really are A TON, but there may only be a handful that you could see spending the entire day with. One thing we don’t often consider is that the photographer is the vendor you’ll be hanging out the most with, second maybe only to your new spouse! Think of it, you end up choosing a photographer whose portfolio is great, price is awesome, but then your wedding day comes and…you can’t stand them! It’s a terrible thing not only because it can make for a very annoying day and forced awkward smiles, but you’ll think of them every time you look at your photos. Their impression will literally be with you always…ALWAYS (insert creepy voice). Do you want to look back on a beautiful photo and think of how you just wanted them to leave? No, of course not, you want to think about how much love you felt for your bride or groom and how your day was so blessed.

Honestly, because you like my photos and you like me. You like how I work, you like how I can handle a crowd, you like how I can speak up or shut up depending on the current situation, you like how you can trust me. I mean the potential for stress on your wedding day is high, no one will argue that. The part of the day that is my responsibility will be as stress free as I can make it. Sure there may be hiccups, but we will do some deep breathing and chug a water together, no harm no foul. We’ll get through it! I want the last thing on your mind to be the things that are my job. We will prepare ahead of time. Day of…sit back and smile, I got you!
All that being said, I know you still want and need to know pricing. I’d love to sit down with you and your fiance so I can really cater to your questions and explain all the ins and outs of the different packages. Then of course, the most important part, you get to know me. If you don’t like me, but my work is awesome and my price fits…don’t hire me! I want you to love whoever is in your face all day. You’ll have SO MUCH more fun and your photos will show it!
